There’s so much more to running than just one foot in front of the other. Here are some of the wonderful lessons learned that transcend running…
“A journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step”
Best to read that one again.
“Consistency is King”
We are all capable of short, sharp bursts of brilliance. The really brilliant ones however, everywhere I look, do it consistently as part of their being.
“It’s the journey that matters, not the destination”
We’ve all done it - compared your progress with someone else’s, the speed in which you’ve achieved it, the end result of what you achieved - and so much more outward verification of measuring Your successes.
The only measure of success should be where you are now, compared to where you were yesterday and where you are going. Don’t be distracted by others - race your own race.
“Open your mouth only to breathe out”
Easier said than done this one…
“Whether you think you can, or think you can’t - you’re right”
Your outcome begins with your starting mindset. If you believe you can, you will. Never make the mistake of writing yourself off, let others do that for you so you can prove them wrong.
“Something beats nothing”
A bad run is always better than no run at all. As is with life, inaction is an action - do nothing and at best you will remain where you are.
